GAIL Q2 Results: Profit rises 11% to Rs 2,672 crore, revenue up 3.5%

GAIL on Tuesday reported an 11% year-on-year increase in profit in the quarter to September to Rs 2,672 crore as improved performance in petrochemicals and gas transmission helped offset a poor show in gas marketing.

Revenue from operations increased 3.5% year-on-year to Rs 32,931 crore in the July-September period.

The petrochemicals business swung to a profit of Rs 158 crore during the quarter from a loss of Rs 160 crore a year earlier. The LPG and liquid hydrocarbons business recorded operating profit of Rs 249 crore compared to a loss of Rs 17 crore in the year-ago period.

“The petrochemical segment is expected to be reasonably profitable in FY 2024-25,” GAIL chairman Sandeep Kumar Gupta said in a statement.

Ahead of the earnings announcement, GAIL shares ended 0.15% higher at Rs 196.40 apiece on Tuesday on the BSE when the benchmark Sensex closed 0.88% higher.
