Century Plyboards' sees 35 % rise in Q1 turnover

Century Plyboards reported a higher net profit of Rs 53.70 crore for the first-quarter ended June 30, 2011, compared to a Rs 51.44 crore net in the earlier corresponding period.

KOLKATA: Century Plyboards (I) reported a higher net profit of Rs 53.70 crore for the first-quarter (Q1) ended June 30, 2011, compared to a Rs 51.44 crore net in the earlier corresponding period. Turnover during the April-June period too was up 34.57 % at Rs 482.27 crore (Rs 358.39 crore).

A company with interests in the plywood, decorative veneers and laminate sectors, Century Plyboards' is in the process of expanding its cement, plywood, laminate and pre laminated board capacities. In a media statement issued after the company’s board meeting, Century Plyboards (I) officials said expansion plans to increase cement capacity from 1.2 million tonne to 4.4 million tonne are progressing as per schedule. The plan includes setting up of a new clinker unit of 1.75MT, grinding units with capacity of 1.6MT each at Guwahati and at Kahalgaon.

Efforts are also on to expand its plywood capacity from 122,420 CBM to 152,420 CBM, its laminate capacity from 2.4 million sheets to 3.6 million sheets as well as double its pre-laminated boards capacity from 800,000 sqm. The plan to set up a fiber board plant at Nellor, Andhra Pradesh is also in progress.
