Blue Dart reports flat net at Rs 40.6 crore; revenue up 5%
Blue Dart Express today reported a net profit at Rs 40.65 crore in the June quarter compared to Rs 40.63 crore a year ago despite a marginal rise in income.
Blue Dart, which claims to be South Asia's No.1 express air and integrated transportation, distribution and logistics company, reported a core revenue of Rs 453.2 crore in Q1, recording a 5.4 per cent growth over Rs 430.06 crore posted in the same period a year ago.
The company did not attribute any reason for the flat growth in profit number.
The company's tax expenses rose to Rs 19.44 crore in the quarter under review from Rs 17.42 crore a year ago. Its freight, handling and servicing costs shot up to Rs 302.31 crore from Rs 277.24 crore, while employee cost rose to Rs 63.85 crore from Rs 61.5 crore.
The company changed its accounting year to April- March, from January-December earlier, to comply with the proposed Companies Bill, 2012. Consequent to this, the previous accounting period was for 15 months, from January 1, 2012 to March 31, 2013.
On November 23, 2012 DHL Express Singapore reduced its promoter shareholding in the company to 75 per cent to comply with the Sebi norms on minimum public shareholding requirements.
