NEW DELHI: Integrated transportation, distribution and logistics company Blue Dart Express today reported a 46.31 per cent decline in its net profit to Rs 28.12 crore for the quarter ended December 31, 2016.

The company had clocked a net profit of Rs 52.47 crore in the year-ago period.

Its net sales for the quarter under review stood at Rs 720 crore as against 652 crore in the same quarter of last fiscal.

The company's total expenses rose to Rs 673 crore during the quarter under review as against Rs 571 crore in the year-ago quarter.

Blue Dart MD Anil Khanna said, "The last quarter of 2016 has been extremely tough for the economy, the industry and Blue Dart. The challenges were intractable and we expect them to continue for some time into the year. We have fought hard to deliver on every aspect of the business by maintaining excellent service quality, ensuring customer delight through best-in-class technological innovation in our offerings."
