Birla Corpn posts highest-ever profit in FY10

Birla Corporation on Thursday announced its best-ever results for FY10, which surpassed all its previous records in terms of production, profit and earning per share in 2009-10.

KOLKATA: Birla Corporation, the flagship company of the MP Birla Group, on Thursday announced its best-ever results for FY10, which surpassed all its previous records in terms of production, profit and earning per share in 2009-10.

Birla Corporation achieved the highest-ever turnover of Rs 2,387.07 crore, registering a 17.08 per cent growth over the previous year. The net profit and EPS rose by 72.23 per cent at Rs 557.18 crore and Rs 72.36, respectively. the company said in a release.

The company board declared a final dividend of Rs 3.50 per share in addition to the interim dividend of Rs 2.50 per share already declared and paid.

The company completed 50 years in cement business and is now on the growth track. At Satna in MP, the first phase of the programme to enhance the clinker capacity to 7,400 TPD has already been completed.

The second phase is expected to be completed by July, sources said, adding the capacity of Satna plant will go up to 9,600 tpd once the second phase is over. Similarly, at Chanderia in Rajasthan, expansion of the cement plant has already been completed and a 1.2 million tonne brownfield plant is being installed which will raise the capacity to 3.49 million tonne.

The grinding capacity of Durgapur cement unit of the company is being increased by 0.6 million tonne which would raise capacity to 2.3 million tonne.
