Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) on Monday reported its September quarter consolidated net profit at Rs 106 crore as compared to a Rs 63 crore loss reported by the state-run company in the year-ago period.

The company's revenue from operations during the quarter stood at Rs 6,584 crore which was up 28% over Rs 5125.29 crore reported in the corresponding quarter of the previous financial year.

Post the earnings announcement, the company’s shares jumped 10% intraday to hit the day's high of Rs 238.50 crore on the NSE.


BHEL returned to profit on a sequential basis as the company reported a loss of Rs 211.40 crore in Q1FY25.

Meanwhile, revenue was up by 20% over Rs 5485 crore reported in the April-June quarter.

Total expenses incurred by the company in the reported quarter stood at Rs 6,571 crore versus Rs 5,875 posted in Q1FY25 and Rs 5,519 crore in Q2FY24.

Segment-wise, the power vertical reported revenue at Rs 5,028 crore versus Rs 4,128 crore in Q1FY25 and Rs 4,073 crore in Q2FY24. Meanwhile, revenues from the industry vertical stood at Rs 1556 crore in Q2FY25 versus Rs 1,357 crore in Q1FY25 and Rs 1,052 crore in Q2FY24.

On a standalone basis, BHEL reported a net profit of Rs 97 crore against YoY and QoQ losses of Rs 58 crore and Rs 213 crore, respectively. The standalone revenue from operations stood at Rs 6584 crore as against Rs 5485 crore in the April-June quarter of FY25 and July-September quarter of FY24.

The consolidated profit before tax (PAT) in the reported quarter stood at Rs 141.42 against a loss of Rs 280 crore in Q1FY25 and Rs 202 crore in Q2FY24.

Consolidated net loss for six months ended September 30, 2024, stood at Rs 105.25 crore, which narrowed from Rs 267.72 crore, BHEL reported in the year-ago period.

The government's flagship engineering and manufacturing company reported total assets at Rs 61792.51 at the end of September-ended quarter versus Rs 59,005.50 crore at the end of March 31, 2024.

The company’s business spans across several core sectors of economy including transportation, defence, aerospace, oil & gas, power, transmission and renewables.
