MUMBAI: Bharti Infratel Monday reported a 18% rise in net profit on account of margin expansion as the tenancies for its towers increase.

In the quarter that ended March 31, the company reported revenue of Rs 2,947 crore up 6% from the same period a year ago with net profit of Rs 746 crore.

Having made expenditure to set up telecom towers at the outset every additional tenancy on a telecom tower adds significantly to profits.

The company now has 2.11 tenants on each of its towers with a monthly rental per tenant of Rs 34,011.

“We are entering a phase of high growth and Bharti Infratel is aligned to the operator’s requirement of increased network rollouts,” said chairman Akhil Gupta, in a press statement.

Gupta added that the recent renewals of operators in the government auction of airwaves augured well for the telecom tower company as more 3G and 4G launches would be seen in the future.
