Astrazeneca Pharma June qtr net down 52 pc at Rs 7.3 cr

NEW DELHI: Drug maker Astrazeneca Pharma on Tuesday posted a 52.1 per cent decline in its net profit at Rs 7.31 crore in the quarter ended June 30, 2010, over the same period last fiscal.

The company had a net profit of Rs 15.28 crore in the corresponding quarter previous fiscal, Astrazeneca Pharma said in a filing to the Bombay Stock Exchange.

During the quarter, the company's net sales stood at Rs 105.95 crore, an increase by 10.53 per cent from Rs 95.85 crore registered in the same quarter last fiscal.

The company, however, stated that its board of directors at a meeting held on February 23, 2010 has approved the change in its statutory accounting year from January-December to April-March.

In the six-month period ended June 30, 2010, the company posted a net profit of Rs 9.9 crore compared to Rs 22.5 crore in the year-ago period.

During the reviewed period, it had net sales of Rs 198.24 crore as against Rs 173.29 crore in the corresponding period last fiscal.
