CHENNAI: Chennai-based healthcare group Apollo Hospitals posted a strong performance in the final quarter of fiscal year 2019, boosting EBITDA for the whole year over Rs 1,000 crore for the first time even as it doubled annual Profit After Tax at the Consolidated level at Rs 236 crore, a growth trajectory the hospital group attributed to better asset utilisation, higher margin profile through case mix and quality of revenue, along with optimisation in costs.

In a press release, Apollo said its consolidated revenue grew 17 per cent to Rs 9617 crore. It posted particularly strong results in the last quarter of FY19, with PAT surging 254 per cent to Rs 84.4 crore from Rs 24 crore in the same period last year.

The Board of Directors has recommended a final dividend of 120 per cent for the fiscal 2019.

Chairman of the group Prathap Reddy said: "We continue to lead in laying down the benchmark for modern medicine in the country and the launch of the Apollo Proton Cancer Centre is testament to the intensity of our efforts. We have repeatedly delivered world-class clinical outcomes at scale, at a fraction of the international cost, and have helped position India as a global destination for medicine."

Apollo had launched its Proton Beam Caner treatment centre in Chennai in January this year, another advancement in tertiary care for the Chennai-based hospital group. The group's healthcare services division grew 14 per cent to Rs 4450 crore in revenue in FY19 while the pharmacies division grew 19 per cent at Rs 3886 crore.

In a note last year, Apollo had said it was hiving off the pharmacies business into a separate subsidiary in which other investors Jhelum Investment Fund, Hemendra Kothari, and ENAM Securities. In the press release on Thursday, Apollo said the reorganisation business in Apollo Hospitals was in progress.
