Alembic Pharmaceuticals Q3 PBT zooms 18% to Rs 53.54-cr

VADODARA: Drug maker Alembic Pharmaceuticals today posted 18 per cent rise in Profit Before Tax (PBT) at Rs 53.54 crore for the quarter ended December 31, 2011 against Rs 45.40 crore in the corresponding quarter previous fiscal.

The Q3 revenues surged by 15 per cent to Rs 382.82 crore compared to Rs 331.54 crore in year-ago period, a company statement said.

The manufacturer of brands like 'Azithral' and 'Roxid' to name a few recorded 112 per cent rise in export of API products to Rs 89.90 crore for the third quarter as against Rs 42.38 crore in the corresponding period last year.

International generics to the regulated markets grew by 13 per cent to Rs 58.45 crore from Rs 51.72 crore vis-a-vis the last quarter.

The formulations sales to ROW markets amounted to Rs 15.60 crore against Rs 15.04 crore, it said, adding the domestic formulation sales of the drug maker rose to Rs 198.78 crore against Rs 184.24 crore over the last fiscal.

Alembic has manufacturing facilities in Baddi in Himachal Pradesh besides Gujarat.
