Abhishek Ind Q2 profit rises over 2-fold to Rs 18.66 cr
Textiles-maker Abhishek Industries Ltd today said its net profit grew more than two-fold to Rs 18.66 crore in the quarter ended September 30.
The company had posted a net profit of Rs 6.90 crore for the September quarter last fiscal, Abhishek Industries said in a filing to the Bombay Stock Exchange.
Total income of the flagship company of the Trident Group rose to Rs 639.62 crore during the quarter under review from Rs 427.92 crore in the same period last year, it said.
However, for the half-year ended September 30, 2010, the company's net profit declined to Rs 29.25 crore from Rs 43.19 crore in the same period of the previous year, it said.
Total income of the firm jumped to Rs 1,222.86 crore in the six-month period under review from Rs 842.30 crore in the same period last fiscal.
During the quarter and the half-year period, the company made provisions towards deferred tax of Rs 9.64 crore and Rs 15.16 crore, respectively.
The company paid Minimum Alternate Tax (MAT) of Rs 5.67 crore and Rs 9.03 crore for the quarter and half-year, respectively.
Abhishek Industries is engaged in the manufacture of terry towels, agro-based paper and yarn.
