US dollar ends cheaper against rupee

MUMBAI: The US dollar ended cheaper against the rupee at Rs 39.40/41 per dollar but the pound sterling turned higher at Rs 80.08/10 per pound at the close of the Interbank Foreign Exchange (Forex) market here on Friday.
