MUMBAI: The rupee Thursday slumped to an all-time low of 92.36/$1, although it pared some losses as energy prices retreated modestly during the day. The currency ended at 92.19/$1, down 15 paise from its previous close of 92.04/$1.

"The rupee opened close to its record low, and immediately after, we saw some intervention by the central bank. The levels between 92.20/$1 and 92.36/$1 is where intervention is most visible," said Dilip Parmar, currency research analyst at HDFC Securities. "Once these levels are crossed, we may see a sharper weakness."
