MUMBAI: The Rupee on Monday opened lower against the US dollar at Rs 45.89/91 per dollar on some dollar demand.

In an otherwise restricted trading at the Interbank Foreign Exchange (forex) market here, the Indian currency started weak at Rs 45.89/91 per dollar and after moving in a narrow range was quoted at Rs 45.89/90 per dollar, lower than last Friday's closing of Rs 45.84/85 per dollar.

There was some dollar demand during the early stage but a clear picture would emerge only in the later part of the day, a dealer said.
