The rupee on Wednesday opened 5 paise up at 64.70 against the dollar on account of sustained selling of American currency by exporters.

The local currency on Tuesday settled 10 paise up at 64.75 a dollar. The RBI, meanwhile, fixed the reference rate for the dollar at 64.7745 and for the euro at 75.4234.

On the further movement of rupee, Angel Broking said, “USDINR spot is expected to trade positive on Wednesday tracking gains in the Asian market currencies. Markets focus shall be on the FOMC policy meeting where the committee is expected to keep rates on hold while signalling an all-clear for a December hike.”

Government bonds fell the most in October in six months, amid concerns that the government’s plan to inject increased capital in state owned banks may hurt fiscal consolidation targets. The GoI benchmark 6.79% 2027 bond yield declined to 6.86 per cent on Tuesday from 6.89 per cent in the previous session.

Meanwhile, domestic equity markets opened in green following firm global cues. The BSE Sensex opened 131.10 points, or 0.39 per cent, up at 33,344.23, while NSE Nifty index opened 55 points, or 0.53 per cent, up at 10,390.35.
