Dollar up, gold falls in European morning trading

The US dollar was mostly higher against other major currencies in European trading on Tuesday morning. Gold fell.

LONDON: The US dollar was mostly higher against other major currencies in European trading on Tuesday morning. Gold fell.

The euro traded at US$1.4371, down from US$1.4472 late Monday in New York.

Other dollar rates: _105.20 Japanese yen, up from 104.43 _1.0997 Swiss francs, up from 1.0873 _1.0465 Canadian dollars, up from 1.0399 The British pound was quoted at US$1.8071, down from $1.8149.

Gold traded in London at US$897.00 per troy ounce, down from US$905.00 late Monday.
