Asian currencies gain against the dollar

Major Asian currencies gained against the US dollar and the Australian dollar peaked at its highest level for 16 years, pulling the New Zealand currency upward in its wake.

HONG KONG: Major Asian currencies gained against the US dollar and the Australian dollar peaked at its highest level for 16 years, pulling the New Zealand currency upward in its wake.
The Japanese currency gained ground against the dollar during the week, while the euro also advanced against the dollar here and dealers said they expected the trend to continue for some time.
The Japanese yen ended the week at 118.58 to the dollar late Friday from 118.81 to the dollar a week earlier.
