WazirX to launch NFTs of rulers of Mysore

NEW DELHI: WazirX NFT Marketplace said it has collaborated with the current custodian of the Wadiyar dynasty, who ruled from Mysore, and is launching NFTs highlighting the rich heritage, culture and folklore of the region.

The first NFT collection is based on the Gandaberunda or Bheru, which is a two-headed bird in Hindu mythology, believed to possess immense magical strength. It was the emblem of the erstwhile Kingdom of Mysore under the Wadiyar kings, and after India attained independence, it was retained by the Mysore state as its emblem. After the formation of Karnataka in 1973, the Gandabherunda -- a symbol of strength -- continues to be the official state emblem of Karnataka.

The first edition of Bherunda NFTs will be launched on the WazirX NFT platform on December 22 at 9 pm. The entire collection will consist of seven different variations of the Bherunda, namely warrior, meditative, mystic, rejuvenating, knowledge, victory and hunter, which will be dropped over a period of the next few months, a statement from WazirX said.


There will be seven editions of each available for purchase and undeniably many collectors are already waiting to get their hands on the exclusive first edition of Bherunda NFTs from Bherunda Media, which is a company owned by Wadiyar custodians, it added.

Bherunda Team is also working on future drops and plans to help other traditional artists and art forms get into the NFT space.
