Engineering firm DEE Development Engineers Limited on Friday said that it has entered into a framework pact with a domestic engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contractor to jointly pursue opportunities in the country's nuclear power sector.

The move is aimed at strengthening DEE Development Engineers' presence in the nuclear power sector.

In a statement, the company did not reveal the name of the EPC contractor but said that the framework agreement covers ongoing and upcoming projects being developed by public and private sector developers, including pressurised heavy water reactors, light water reactors and small modular reactors.

The areas of focus include the nuclear island, covering primary piping and common services, and the turbine island, covering secondary-cycle piping and light-water systems.

Under the pact, DEE will act as a strategic partner and provide pre-bid support, including budgetary offers and commercial and pricing inputs.

Its scope will also include design and engineering services such as 3D modelling, piping general arrangement, isometrics, stress analysis, piping support design and drawings, material take-offs, and as-built drawings and models.

The company will also support the manufacturing, supply and sourcing of piping products and components, along with associated quality, manufacturing, non-destructive testing, testing and end documentation.

"India's nuclear energy ambitions are creating opportunities to strengthen the domestic manufacturing and engineering ecosystem. As the sector evolves, reliable piping systems, engineering expertise and adherence to stringent quality standards will be critical to supporting the development of nuclear power infrastructure," DEE Development Engineers Ltd Chairman and Managing Director K L Bansal said.
