Zinc strengthens on global cues, rises 0.4%

Traders said sentiment in zinc remained firm after it rose in global markets, as stockpiles tracked by the London Metal Exchange shrank to the least.

NEW DELHI: Zinc prices strengthened by Re 1 per kg at the non-ferrous metals market largely on firming global trend.

Traders said sentiment in zinc remained firm after it rose in global markets, as stockpiles tracked by the London Metal Exchange shrank to the least in five years, spurring concern that supply is tightening.

Meanwhile, zinc for delivery in three months rose 0.4 per cent to USD 2,186.50 a metric tonne on the London Metal Exchange.

In the national capital, zinc ingots advanced by Re 1 at Rs 118-124 per kg.

Following are today's metal rates (in Rs per kg): Zinc ingot Rs 118-124, Nickel plate (4x4) Rs 1,064-1,069, Gun metal scrap Rs 227, Bell metal scrap Rs 229, Copper mixed scrap Rs 410, Chadri deshi Rs 285.

Lead ingot Rs 102, Lead imported Rs 103, Aluminium ingots Rs 158, Aluminium sheet cutting Rs 159, Aluminium wire scrap Rs 161 and Aluminium utensils scrap Rs 158.
