Zinc futures down 0.40 pc on weak global trend

Zinc futures fell by 0.45 per cent to Rs 104.90 per kg as speculators reduced their positions, largely in tandem with weakness in base metals in global markets.

NEW DELHI: Zinc futures fell by 0.45 per cent to Rs 104.90 per kg today as speculators reduced their positions, largely in tandem with weakness in base metals in global markets.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, zinc for delivery in March shed 45 paise, or 0.45 per cent, to Rs 104.90 per kg, with a trade turnover of 59 lots.

The metal for delivery in February lost 40 paise, or 0.40 per cent, to Rs 103.95 per kg, with a business volume of 1,085 lots.

Analysts attributed the fall in zinc futures prices to a weak trend in base metals overseas and subdued domestic demand.
