Zinc futures decline on weak global cues

NEW DELHI: Zinc prices fell by 0.90 pc in futures market in early trade today on weak global trend.

"Base metals ease as traders are not willing to hold their positions amid reports of a weakening trend in London Metal Exchange," said Sri Bhagwan of B V Metals.

At 1230 hrs on the Multi Commodity Exchange, zinc for June contract fell by 0.90 pc at Rs 82.85 per kg.

The metal for July contract dipped by 0.71 pc at Rs 84.10 per kg, clocking a business volume of 728 kg. August contract fell by 0.90 pc at Rs 85.25 per kg with a business volume of 24 kg.

Trading sentiment turned weak following reports of zinc falling on the London Metal Exchange, paring yesterday's 6.3 pc gain, marketmen said.

Zinc for delivery in three months fell 38 dollar, or two per cent to 1,952 dollar a metric ton in London.
