Wheat strengthens on increased flour mills demand

Marketmen said besides, increased demand from flour mills, tight supplies from producing regions mainly kept wheat prices higher.

NEW DELHI: Wheat prices strengthened by Rs 5 per quintal at the wholesale grains market today following increased demand from flour mills against tight supplies from producing belts.

However, rice basmati eased on weak demand from importers.

Marketmen said besides, increased demand from flour mills, tight supplies from producing regions mainly kept wheat prices higher.

In the national capital, wheat dara (for mills) advanced by Rs 5 to Rs 1,560-1,565 per quintal. Atta chakki delivery followed suit enquired higher by Rs 10 to Rs 1,570-1,575 per 90 kg.

On the other hand, rice basmati common and Pusa-1121 variety fell to Rs 5,500-5,700 and Rs 4,300-5,700 from previous levels of Rs 5,700-5,900 and Rs 4,400-5,700 per quintal respectively.
