Wheat strengthens on buying by flour mills

Wheat prices strengthened by Rs 10 per quintal in the wholesale grains market today on sustained buying by flour mills.

NEW DELHI: Wheat prices strengthened by Rs 10 per quintal in the wholesale grains market today on sustained buying by flour mills to meet the wedding season demand.

However, other grains moved in a narrow range in limited deals and settled around previous levels.

Traders said sustained buying by flour mills to meet the wedding season demand mainly led to the rise in wheat prices.

In the national capital, wheat dara (for mills) advanced by Rs 10 to Rs 1,650-1,655 per quintal, while atta chakki delivery traded higher by similar margin to Rs 1,660-1,665 per 90 kg.

The following are today's quotations per quintal: Wheat MP (deshi) 2,025-2,225, Wheat dara (for mills) 1,650-1,655, Chakki atta (delivery) 1,660-1,665, Atta Rajdhani (10 kg) 210, Shakti bhog (10 kg) 210, Roller flour mill 860-880 (50 kg), Maida 920-940 (50 kg) and Sooji 1030-1,060 (50kg).

Basmati rice (Lal Quila) 9,500, Shri Lal Mahal 9,500, Super Basmati Rice, 9,000, Basmati common new 5,200-5,300, Rice Pusa-(1121) new 4,500-5,200, Permal raw 1,950-2050, Permal wand 2,200-2,250, Sela 2,450-2,650 and Rice IR-8 1,500-1,600, Bajra 1,185-1,195, Jowar yellow 1,275-1,300, white 2,100-2,300, Maize 1,395-1,405, Barley 1,350-1,365, Rajasthan 1,080-1,090.
