Wheat, rice basmati prices firm up on increased buying
Firm conditions developed at the wholesale grains market as wheat and rice basmati prices firmed up to Rs 200 per quintal.

Bajra and barley also moved up on the back of pick-up in demand from consuming industries.
Traders said increased buying by flour mills and stockists amid slowdown in arrivals mainly pushed up wheat and rice basmati prices.
In the national capital, wheat dara (for mills) rose by Rs 50 to Rs 1,670-1,675 per quintal. Atta chakki delivery followed suit and traded higher by similar margin to Rs 1,675-1,680 per 90 kg.
In line with wheat, atta flour mills, maida and sooji also traded higher at Rs 910-920, Rs 965-990 and Rs 1,040-1,060 against last close of Rs 890-910, Rs 950-980 and Rs 1,025-1,040 per 50 kg, respectively.
In the rice section, rice basmati common and Pusa-1121 variety moved up by Rs 200 each to Rs 8,700-9,100 and Rs 8,500-8,100 per quintal, respectively.
Other bold grains like bajra and barley moved up by Rs 25 and Rs 40 to Rs 1,175-1,205 and Rs 1,340-1,345 per quintal, respectively.
