Wheat remains weak on increased supply, reduced offtake

Wheat remained weak for second straight day and prices fell further by Rs 5 per quintal on wholesale grains market on increased supply against reduced offtake by flour mills.

NEW DELHI: Wheat remained weak for the second straight day and prices fell further by Rs 5 per quintal on the wholesale grains market on increased supply against reduced offtake by flour mills.

However, rice basmati Pusa-1121 strengthened on steady inflow of buying by stockists.

Traders said increased supply against reduced offtake by flour mills mainly kept pressure on wheat.

In the national capital, wheat dara (for mills) shed another Rs 5 to Rs 1,615-1,620 per quintal. Atta chakki delivery followed suit and traded lower by Rs 10 to Rs 1,620-1,625 per 90 kg.

On the otherhand, rice basmati Pusa-1121 variety strenthened by Rs 100 to Rs 7,600-7,800 per quintal.
