Wheat prices rise on flour mills' buying

NEW DELHI: In thin trading, wheat prices rose by Rs 10 per quintal on the wholesale grains market on Wednesday, mostly on the back of increased offtake by stockists to meet increased demand from flour mills.

Elsewhere, other grains including rice, continued to trade around previous levels in the absence of worthwhile activity.

Marketmen said increased enquiries from atta mills helped wheat prices to rise but ample supplies in the mandies, limited the gains.

In the national capital, wheat dara, mostly used by flour mills, traded Rs 10 higher at Rs 1,580-1,585 per quintal, while wheat MP (deshi) remained steady at Rs 2,000-2,200 per quintal.
