Wheat prices down on ample supply, reduced offtake

Wheat prices remained lower by Rs 25 per quintal in the wholesale grain market today on increased supply against reduced offtake by rolling flour mills.

NEW DELHI: Wheat prices remained lower by Rs 25 per quintal in the wholesale grain market today on increased supply against reduced offtake by rolling flour mills.

Wheat MP deshi variety lost Rs 25 at Rs 1,300-1,575 per quintal on increased arrival from Madhya Pradesh. Wheat dara (for mills) also declined by Rs 5 at Rs 1,035-1,040 a quintal on reduced offtake by rolling flour mills.

Atta chakki delivery followed suit and traded lower at Rs 1,040-1,045 from previous level of Rs 1,045-1,050 a 90 kg.

Marketmen said increased arrival in the face of slowdown in buying from rolling flour mills mainly kept wheat prices lower.
