Wheat, non-basmati rice prices down

Prices of wheat and rice (non basmati) drifted to close Rs 10-30 down per quintal in the wholesale grains market on poor demand from millers and retailers.

NEW DELHI: Prices of wheat and rice (non basmati) drifted to close Rs 10-30 down per quintal in the wholesale grains market on Wednesday on poor demand from millers and retailers.

However, other commodities continued to trade in a limited range on scattered deals.

Traders said pick up in arrivals from producing belts against sluggish demand from rolling flour mills, helped wheat dara prices to move down.

Wheat dara (for mills) traded Rs 10 down at Rs 1045-1090 per quintal, but wheat MP (deshi) remained flat at Rs 1240-1490 a quintal on some support.

In the rice section,rice permal raw and permal wand were down by Rs 30 at Rs 1370-1470 per quintal on poor demand.
