WGC partners with India Post, Reliance Money for 6% discount on Akshaya Trithiya

NEW DELHI: The World Gold Council ( WGC) in partnership with organisations like India Post and Reliance Money is providing a special discount of 6 per cent to buyers on gold coins this Akshaya Tritiya.

Akshaya Tritiya, which falls on Tuesday April 24 this year, is considered as an auspicious day to buy gold.

Customers can avail of a special discount of 6 per cent on purchase of gold coins from India Post offices starting from today, April 19, until June 30, 2012, WGC said in a statement.

Consumers can purchase 99.9 per cent pure, Swiss- manufactured gold coins in denominations of one gram, five grams, eight grams, ten grams, 20 grams and 50 grams from a network of 980 India Post outlets across the country.

Reliance Money Infrastructure Ltd will be the operational associate for this project. They are the supplier and back-end service provider, the statement added.

"During 2011 Indian households continued to turn to gold as a store of wealth, with gold now accounting for seven per cent of household savings. We are therefore delighted to be working in partnership with India Post on this gold coin promotion," World Gold Council Managing Director, India and Middle East Ajay Mitra said.

Mitra added, "India Post's extensive network, combined with its credible and trust-worthy brand, means it is the perfect partner for such an initiative, and we look forward to working together for many years to come."
