CHENNAI: Prices of wheat and select commodities like urad dal, moong dal and thoor dal weakened during the week under review in the wholesale foodgrains market.
However, gram dal moved up marginally while others hovered around their previous levels.
Urad dal started the week Rs 150 lower per quintal at Rs 3,600 and recovered to touch Rs 3,650 by midweek, before losing again to conclude at Rs 3,600 against the previous weekend rate of Rs 3,750, a net fall of Rs 150.
Wheat, which remained static at Rs 1,400 per quintal on Monday, later dropped to Rs 1,380 compared to the previous week's rate of Rs 1,400.
Moong dal closed the week cheaper by Rs 150 per quintal at Rs 3,000 over the previous week's level. Thoor dal also eased by Rs 50 per quintal to Rs 4,100 over the last weekend rate of Rs 4,150.
However, gram dal rose by Rs 50 per quintal to finsih at Rs 2,800 against Rs 2,750 previously. Sugar at Rs 1,330, maida (90kgs) at Rs 1,380 and sooji (90kgs) at Rs 1,600 remained unchanged.
