NEW DELHI: Weak conditions prevailed on the wholesale grains market today with prices of wheat and few other bold grains declining owing to sluggish demand against adequate supplies from producing region.

However, rice basmati found selective buying and ended higher.

Traders said sluggish demand against adequate supplies from producing regions mainly led to decline in wheat and other bold grain prices.

In the national capital, wheat dara (for mills) declined by Rs 15 to Rs 1,550-1,555 per quintal. Atta chakki delivery followed suit and traded lower by the same margin to Rs 1,555-1,560 per 89 kg. Bajra, jowar yellow and white were also traded lower by Rs 50 each to Rs 1,500-1,510, Rs 1,600-1,650 and Rs 2,400-2,650 per quintal, respectively.

Maize also fell by Rs 50 to Rs 1,465-1,470 per quintal. On the other hand, rice basmati common rose by Rs 200 to Rs 7,200-7,300 per quintal.
