NEW DELHI: Urad and its dal prices rose by upto Rs 500 per quintal at the wholesale market today on increased buying by stockists, triggered by restricted supplies.

However, other pulses moved in a narrow range on scattered buying or selling and settled around previous levels.

Traders said increased buying by stockists against restricted supplies from producing belts mainly led to rise in urad and its dal prices.

In the national capital, urad rose by Rs 400 to Rs 9,500-10,500 per quintal. Its dal chilka local, best quality and dhoya were up by Rs 500 each to Rs 10,600-10,800, Rs 10,700-11,300 and Rs 11,100-11,300 per quintal respectively.

In the retail market, Arhar was trading at Rs 130 per kg in the national market.
