NEW DELHI: Turmeric prices moved up by 1.76 per cent to Rs 7,036 per quintal in futures trade on Friday as speculators enlarged positions, supported by rising demand in the spot market.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, turmeric for delivery in May rose by Rs 122, or 1.76 per cent to Rs 7036 per quintal with an open interest of 10050 lots.

On the similar lines, the spice for delivery in April gained Rs 110, or 1.56 per cent to Rs 7,164 per quintal in 4535 lots.

Analysts attributed the rise in turmeric futures to firm demand in the spot markets against restricted arrivals from producing region.
