Turmeric prices marginally up in futures trade

Turmeric prices moved up marginally in futures trading, on speculative buying by traders on reports of deficient rainfall in the producing region.

NEW DELHI : Turmeric prices moved up marginally in futures trading on speculative buying by traders on reports of deficient rainfall in the producing region.
At 1145 hrs on country's leading commodity exchange NCDEX, turmeric for August delivery contract traded 0.40 per cent higher to Rs 4,535 per quintal after moving between Rs 4,545 and Rs 4,512 per quintal.
Far-month October contract also showed similar trend and traded 0.50 per cent higher to Rs 4,776 per quintal.
Traders said future prices of turmeric were influenced on reports of delay in cultivation due to deficient rainfall in mid-June in Andhra Pradesh, the major producer of the commodity.
Meanwhile, spot prices of turmeric were trading higher at Rs 4,252 per quintal at Nizamabad market in Andhra Pradesh.
