Turmeric opens higher in futures trade
urmeric prices went up by nearly 1% in early trade in the futures market on increased buying by traders on reports of deficient rains in producing centres.
At 1115 hrs, turmeric for August contract traded 0.50 per cent higher to Rs 4,628 per quintal with a business volume of 2170 lots at leading commodity exchange NCDEX.
Far-month October contract also showed similar trend and traded up by similar margin at Rs 4,887 per quintal, clocking a business volume of 3,710 tonnes.
Traders said future prices of turmeric were largely influenced on reports of deficient rainfall in Andhra Pradesh, the major producer of the commodity, delaying cultivation by a fortnight.
