Turmeric, jeera rise as demand picks up

Turmeric and jeera prices rose by Rs 100 per quintal in the national capital today largely on the back of a pick-up in demand from local parties as well as overseas enquiries.

NEW DELHI: Turmeric and jeera prices rose by Rs 100 per quintal in the national capital today largely on the back of a pick-up in demand from local parties as well as overseas enquiries.

Turmeric prices rose by Rs 100 to settle at Rs 6,200-11,200 per quintal.

Jeera common and jeera best quality also higher by Rs 100 each to conclude at Rs 12,700-13,300 and Rs 16,700-17,300 per quintal, respectively.

Traders said buying support from retailers and exporters against fall in supplies from producing belts, mainly pushed up turmeric and jeera prices on the wholesale kirana market here.
