Turmeric, jeera prices rise on stockists buying

Traders said buying support from retailers and stockists against fall in supplies from producing belts, mainly pushed up turmeric and jeera prices.

NEW DELHI: Turmeric and jeera prices rose by Rs 100 per quintal in the national capital today largely on the back of increased buying by stockists and retailers.

Besides, low stocks in the market following fall in supplies from producing regions also influenced prices.

Turmeric prices were up by Rs 100 to conclude at Rs 9,100-12,900 per quintal.

Jeera common and jeera best quality also traded Rs 100 each higher to finish at Rs 16,500-17,000 and Rs 20,000-20,500 per quintal, respectively.

Traders said buying support from retailers and stockists against fall in supplies from producing belts, mainly pushed up turmeric and jeera prices.

Following are today's quotations (in Rs): Ajwain (per kg) 150-185, black pepper (per kg) 560-740, betel-nut (kg) 300-350, cardamom brown-Jhundiwali (kg) 1,700-1,710 and cardamom brown-Kanchicut (kg) 1,810-1,910.

Cardamom small (kg): Chitridar 780-840, cardamom (colour robin) 780-800, cardamom bold 790-810, cardamom extra (bold) 920-970 and cloves 710-830.
