NEW DELHI: Turmeric prices fell by 1.08 per cent to Rs 6,784 per quintal in futures trading today as speculators booked profits at prevailing higher levels, driven by a fall in demand in the spot market against adequate stocks position.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, turmeric for delivery in April fell by Rs 74, or 1.08 per cent, to Rs 6,784 per quintal with an open interest of 13,735 lots.

Similarly, the spice for delivery in May lost Rs 70, or 1.01 per cent, to Rs 6,850 per quintal in 3,110 lots.

Analysts said besides profit-booking by speculators at prevailing higher levels, fall in demand in the spot market, mainly kept pressure on turmeric prices at futures trade.
