Tea Board to tie up with Air India

The Tea Board is in the process of tying up with Air India for locating its marketing centre at the overseas carrier's office in Cairo, Minister of State for Commerce Jairam Ramesh said on Friday.

KOLKATA: The Tea Board is in the process of tying up with Air India for locating its marketing centre at the overseas carrier's office in Cairo, Minister of State for Commerce Jairam Ramesh said on Friday.
Ramesh told reporters that the Tea Board has approached Air India for allowing the use of a part of its property for setting up a tea marketing centre in the Egyptian capital.
"I have already spoken to the Air India Chairman," Ramesh said. "We are in the final stages of discussion," he added.
Egypt has been identified as an important export market for Indian tea.
Meanwhile, Tea Board has also selected NSE.IT for developing the auction principle and platform to start electronic auction in the country.
E-auction would be in place by October or November, Ramesh said adding an international tea festival would be held in November in Guwahati.
