Sugar up on fresh buying, restricted arrivals
Sugar prices closed in positive zone on the wholesale sugar market here on Saturday following restricted supply against increased offtake.
Marketmen said pick up in buying by stockists and bulk consumer mainly brought the rise in sugar prices.
Higher mills advices also enthused the market sentiments to some extent, they added.
Sugar ready medium and second grade moved up to settle at Rs 1470-1575 and Rs 1460-1565 from Rs 1450-1550 and Rs 1440-1540 a quintal on increased offtake.
Mill delivery medium and second grade price also swifted to winding up at Rs 1320-1460 and Rs 1310-1450 instead of Rs 1300-1440 and Rs 1290-1430 a quintal respectively.
Among mill gate section, Modi Nagar, Baghpat, Daurala, Chandpur, Titabi and Mawana all quoted higher at Rs 1350, Rs 1325, Rs 1390, Rs 1280, Rs 1365 and Rs 1375 a quintal respectively.
Simbhawali, Khatauli, Badaiu, Saatha, Ruderavilash, Bijnor, Armroha and Samali also finished higher at Rs 1355, Rs 1380, Rs 1300, Rs 1305, Rs 1300, Rs 1315 and Rs 1325 and Rs 1350 a quintal respectively.
