Sugar strengthens on festive demand, tight supplies
Sugar continued its upward journey and rose by another Rs 25 a quitnal in the national capital on Saturday following persistent buying by stockists as well as bulk consumers amid restricted supply.
Festive and marriage season demand also supported the prices.
Marketmen said increased buying by stockists, retailer and bulk consumers in view of ongoing festive and marriage season, largely pushed up prices.
Sugar ready medium and second grade traded higher at Rs 1,925-2,000 and Rs 1,900-1,980 per quitnal respectively.
Mill delivery Medium and second grade price also edged up from Rs.1730-1900 and Rs.1720-1890 to Rs.1750-1925 and Rs.1740-1900 per quintal respectively.
Among millgate section, sugar Simbhawali, samali and Khatauli all traded higher at Rs.1,930, Rs.1,870 and Rs.1,885 per quitnal respectively.
Budhana, nanota and Thanabhawan also hardened by Rs.20 a quintal at Rs.1,880, Rs.1,775 and Rs.1,880 per quintal respectively.
