Sugar rises on better offtake

Sugar prices rose by Rs 10 a quintal on the wholesale sugar market on Saturday on better offtake by soft-drink makers.

NEW DELHI: Sugar prices rose by Rs 10 a quintal on the wholesale sugar market on Saturday on better offtake by soft-drink makers.

Marketmen said increased offtake from soft-drinks and ice-cream makers mainly pushed up sugar prices.

At wholesale market, sugar ready M-30 and S-30 gained Rs 10 at Rs 1,550-1,610 a quintal. Mill delivery M-30 and S-30 followed suit and traded higher at Rs 1,400-1,470 and Rs 1,390-1,460 per quintal respectively.
