Sugar remains sluggish on subdued offtake

Both the varieties of sugar prices maintained its sluggish trend at the Vashi wholesale sugar market.

MUMBAI: Both the varieties of sugar prices maintained its sluggish trend at the Vashi wholesale sugar market here today due to subdued offtake from stockist and lower demand from bulk consumers on the back of ample supply position.

Medium sugar (M-30) fell further by Rs 10 per quintal to Rs 3,252/3,421 as against Rs 3,262/3,421 yesterday.

Small sugar (S-30) also eased by Rs 4 per quintal to Rs 3,202/3,282 from Monday's closing level of Rs 3,206/3,282.

Following are today's closing rates for sugar (per quintal) with the previous rates given in brackets:

Small sugar (S-30) quality: Rs 3,202/3,282 (Rs 3,206/3,282.

Medium sugar (M-30) quality: Rs 3,252/3,421 (Rs 3,262/ 3,421).
