Sugar prices witness divergent trend

A divergent trend was witnessed at the Vashi wholesale sugar market here today with small sugar recovering on fresh offtake from bulk consumers.

MUMBAI: A divergent trend was witnessed at the Vashi wholesale sugar market here today with small sugar recovering on fresh offtake from bulk consumers, while Medium sugar fell further on subdued demand from stockist and retailers.

Small sugar (S-30) climbed by Rs 20/11 per quintal to Rs 3,112/3,211 from Tuesday;s closing level of Rs 3,092/3,200.

However, Medium sugar (M-30) declined by Rs 19 per quintal to Rs 3,212/3,401 as against Rs 3,231/3,401 yesterday.

Following are today's closing rates for sugar (per quintal) with the previous rates given in brackets:

Small sugar (S-30) quality: Rs 3,112/3,211 (Rs 3,092/3,200.

Medium sugar (M-30) quality: Rs 3,212/3,401 (Rs 3,231/3,401).
