Sugar prices up on increased buying

Sugar prices moved up in the wholesale sugar market here today following increased buying support against reduced arrivals and showed a rise of Rs 10 to Rs 20 a quintal.

NEW DELHI: Sugar prices moved up in the wholesale sugar market here today following increased buying support against reduced arrivals and showed a rise of Rs 10 to Rs 20 a quintal.

Marketmen said increased demand from bulk consumers, like ice-cream makers and cold-drink manufactures caused the rise, mainly in sugar ready prices.

Sugar ready medium grade moved up from Rs.1590-1640 to settle at Rs.1610-1675 a quintal on better offtake.
Sugar ready second grade price also gained to close Rs.1600-1650 a quintal on increased buying support.
