Marketmen said rise in demand due to ongoing marriage season amid restricted supply from mills pushed up sweetener prices.

NEW DELHI: Sugar prices firmed up by Rs 45 per quintal in the national capital today following brisk buying by stockists and bulk consumers amid restricted supply.

Marketmen said rise in demand due to ongoing marriage season amid restricted supply from mills pushed up sweetener prices.

Sugar mill delivery M-30 and S-30 prices hardened from Rs 2860-3180 and Rs 2850-3150 to Rs 2860-3225 and Rs 2850-3190 per quintal.

In millgate section, Dorala and Khatuli asked higher by Rs 35 each to Rs 3060 and Rs 3025 per quintal, respectively.

Sugar Simbholi advanced by Rs 20 at Rs 3260 while Budhana rose by Rs 15 at Rs 3010 per quintal.

The following were today's quotations per quintal: Sugar ready: M-30 Rs 3,060-3,260, S-30 Rs 3,050-3,240. Mill delivery: M-30 Rs 2,860-3,225; S-30 Rs 2,850-3,190.
