Sugar prices up on better demand

Sugar price recovered by Rs 5 per quintal in the wholesale sugar market on emergence of buying from bulk consumers and local parties.

NEW DELHI: Sugar price recovered by Rs 5 per quintal in the wholesale sugar market on Thursday on emergence of buying from bulk consumers and local parties.

Fresh buying from local parties and bulk consumers extended support to the market sentiment to some extent, marketmen said.

Sugar ready medium and second grade moved higher by Rs 5 each to Rs 1,500-1,565 and Rs 1,480-1,550 a quintal respectively.

Mill delivery medium and second grade price also went up by Rs 5 each to close at Rs 1,280-1,440 and Rs 1,265-1,430 a quintal respectively.

Among millgate section, Sugar daurala, simbhawali, khatauli and badaiu all improved by Rs 5 each to Rs 1,450, Rs 1,445, Rs 1,435 and Rs 1,355 a quintal respectively.

Sattha, ruderavilash and bijnor closed higher by Rs 5 each to close at Rs 1,350, Rs 1,360 and Rs 1,395 a quintal respectively.
