Sugar prices move up

Sugar prices edged up while other commodities ruled steady in the wholesale foodgrain market during the week under review.


CHENNAI: Sugar prices edged up while other commodities ruled steady in the wholesale foodgrain market during the week under review.

Thoor dal opened the week at its previous rate of Rs 3,900 and moved up the next day by Rs 50 per quintal to Rs 3,950 but settled at Rs 3,900 at the week-end.

Sugar rose on Thursday by Rs 50 to Rs 1,450 and ended the week at the same rate, gaining Rs 50 per quintal over its previous week-end rate of Rs 1,400.

Urad Dal at Rs 3,450, moong dal at Rs 3,200, gram dal at Rs 2,500, wheat at Rs 1,400, maida (90 kgs) at Rs 1,380 and sooji (90 kgs) at Rs 1,450 remained unchanged.
