Sugar prices gain on fresh buying

Sugar price firmed up in the range of Rs 10-25 a quintal on Saturday due to increased buying by stockists and bulk consumers.

NEW DELHI: Sugar price firmed up in the range of Rs 10-25 a quintal in the wholesale sugar market here on Saturday due to increased buying by stockists and bulk consumers against restricted supply from mills.

Marketmen said reduced arrivals from mills against increased buying interest from stockists pushed up sugar prices.

Sugar ready medium and second grade moved up to finish at Rs 1,550-1,650 and Rs 1,540-1,625 from Rs 1,550-1,625 and Rs 1,525-1,610 a quintal respectively.

Mill delivery medium and second grade also went up to finish at Rs 1340-1520 and Rs 1330-1510 instead of Rs 1330-1510 and Rs 1320-1500 a quintal respectively.

Among mill gate section, sugar titabe moved up by Rs 5 at Rs 1,480 a quintal.

Mawana and khatuali also edged up to settle at Rs 1,485 and Rs 1,475 a quintal respectively.
